Beso Beso
Colombia
At the heart of Huila, our sister company SKN works alongside more than 4,000 smallholder producers, guided by a team of 16 agronomists devoted to elevating cup quality. Each purchase is carefully monitored by local agencies to ensure both traceability and excellence, reinforcing the region’s reputation for integrity and consistency.
Here, most farms are planted with Caturra and follow time-honored traditions: cherries are de-pulped by hand-cranked machines and dried slowly on raised beds, where the air and sun weave their influence into every bean.
At the San Jose mill in Neiva-Huila, the SKN team cups through hundreds of samples to cra˛ this regional blend. What began as a familiar harvest ritual revealed something extraordinary, a cup that rises above expectation, carrying the essence of Huila in every sip.
BESO BESO shows a lively, citrusy freshness at the outset which evolves into a complex interplay of acidity. It’s a harmonious blend of flavors featuring ripe peach and brown sugar with a hint of nuts and Coffee. The lingering aftertaste has a refreshing finish.
GRADE
“Excelso” is a grading term for exportable coffee from Colombia, not related to variety or cupping profile.
Colombian coffee is graded according to bean size: Supremo and Excelso beans are harvested from the same coffee trees, but they are sorted by size. Excelso coffee beans are large, but slightly smaller than Supremo coffee beans with a 15/16 screen size compared to 17/18 for Supremo.
Excelso accounts for the greatest volume of coffee exported from Colombia.
